The Suffolk County Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Section, in conjunction with New York State Police, NYS Department of Taxation and NYS Environmental Conservation Police, issued 40 summonses and placed 3 tankers out of service at a fuel carrier checkpoint last night into this morning.
The inter-agency enforcement initiative was conducted to ensure compliance with commercial motor vehicle and hazardous material safety regulations and with NYS tax laws, and to address environmental safety issues associated with fuel tanker trucks. A total of 15 trucks were inspected during the 6 hour checkpoint.
