Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Huntington Station this morning.

Mercedes Pulido, 93, was attempting to cross New York Avenue near West 9th Street in Huntington Station when she was struck by a 1999 Ford Taurus that was heading southbound on New York Avenue at 6:40 a.m. this morning. Pulido was crossing from the west side of New York Avenue to the east side when the collision occurred.

Pulido, of 208 5th Ave., Huntington Station, was transported via ambulance to Huntington Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Taurus, Bernadette Simon, 68, of 24 West 10th St., Huntington Station, was not injured in the crash.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
