Crash Injured Two Elderly People

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured two elderly people in Melville this morning. 

Thomas Emberton was operating a 1999 Toyota northbound on Route 110 in Melville, approaching the intersection of Pinelawn Road, when his vehicle collided with a 2007 Nissan at 8:40 a.m. Joan Goldstein, the driver of the Nissan, was driving southbound on Route 110 and attempting to make a left turn on to Pinelawn Road. 

Emberton, 89, of 6 Tracy Drive, Huntington, was transported by Melville Rescue to Plainview Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Goldstein, 77, of 14 Olympia Place, East Northport, was transported by Melville Rescue Huntington Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. 

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
