Statement From County Executive Bellone on the passing of  William J. Lindsay

(Hauppauge, NY-September 11, 2013)  Today, we lost a true public servant, Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay.  Bill had a common sense way about him which permeated throughout his interactions with constituents as well as his fellow elected officials.  You could count on Bill to be honest and a true man of his word.  He possessed an unstoppable determination to serve the people of Suffolk County even in the midst of battling cancer.   Bill stands as a shining example of what all public officials should strive to become.  Bill is clearly the best Presiding Officer we’ve had in the history of this county, in addition to being the longest serving. We thank Bill for his years of service to Suffolk County and its residents.  May God bless his family. Bill will be truly missed.
