Dix Hills FD Responds to Service Road Crash
The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash on the North Service Road of the Long Island Expressway, east of Deer Park Avenue late Friday night, November 1. First arriving units found an overturned Hummer that had crashed and flipped over the guardrail onto an embankment, with the driver out the vehicle. The male driver refused medical assistance. Under the command of Chief Tom Magno and Second Assistant Chief Tom Napolitano, two ambulances, a heavy rescue truck, paramedic and first responder units were dispatched.
This was one of six motor vehicle accidents handled by Dix Hills Fire Department on Friday. The other crashes occurred on East Deer Park Road and Gables Court, Northern State Parkway near Deer Park Avenue (two crashes), Deer Park Avenue and Straight Path, and Northern State Parkway west of Deer Park Avenue.
Dix Hills Fire Chief Tom Magno urges all motorists to use caution on the roads. “Driving conditions get worse with rain and wet leaves. The public should use caution this time of year,” said Chief Magno.
