School Closings & Delays for Tuesday, January 21, 2014
Cold Spring Harbor School District – After School Activities Cancelled, YMCA After School Program Closes 5PM. Due to the inclement weather all after school activities have been cancelled for Tuesday, January 21. The YMCA after school program will close early at 5:00 PM. All Athletics for Tuesday January 21st are cancelled due to the weather. Please check the athletics website under Schedules for all updates.
Commack School District: Due to inclement weather Commack schools will initiate an early dismissal today, January 21, 2014. Commack High School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Commack Middle School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. Grades K to 5 will be dismissed one and 1/2 hours (90 minutes) early. All after-school activities are cancelled, including Maturity night at Burr and Sawmill. Maturity night is rescheduled for March 31 at 7pm. SCOPE is cancelled.
Elwood School District – Due to the inclement weather, the Elwood School District will have an early dismissal today, Tuesday January 21. Please take note of the following information. Boyd Intermediate School will dismiss at 12:00. We will implement the Early Dismissal Release program. Boyd students must be met at the bus stop by a person that is listed on the early dismissal release form that was completed by you at the beginning of the year. High School will dismiss at 12:45 pm., Middle School will dismiss at 1:15 pm., Harley Ave. will dismiss at 1:45 pm. As with Boyd, we will implement the Early Dismissal Release program. Harley students must be met at the bus by a person that is listed on the early dismissal release form that was completed by you at the beginning of the year. AM Kindergarten will dismiss at 11:50 am. PM Kindergarten has been cancelled. PM Kindergarten Enrichment will have lunch and remain until regular time, 3:15 pm and be picked up by parents. Extended Kindergarten with Mrs. Graber, Ms. Colmone and Ms. Stewart will be dismissing at 1:45 pm. All after school and evening activities. All Elwood Care programs will close today at 4:00 pm.
Half Hollow Hills School District: Due to the anticipated weather and road conditions, there will be an early dismissal in effect for all students today. Dismissal times are as follows: High School – 12:00 pm, Middle School – 1:00 pm, Elementary School – 2:00 pm. All after-school activities have been cancelled, including Driver Education, Adult Education and Professional Development classes. All afternoon REACH CYA activities, including afternoon Pre-K, afternoon childcare, Advantage and evening basketball have been cancelled as well.
Harborfields School District – Early dismissal, High School will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m., Oldfield M.S. at 1:00 p.m., TJL and WDPS at 2:00 p.m. Afternoon Kindergarten is cancelled, all afternoon and evening activities are cancelled including SCOPE.
Huntington School District: Due to today’s inclement weather and forecast, we are releasing the buses for dismissal from the high school and middle school approximately 30 minutes earlier to account for anticipated slow travel time. Children from all schools may therefore arrive home several minutes earlier than expected, again dependent on road conditions and travel time. Please note that afternoon kindergarten classes are canceled, as are all after school and evening activities. An additional communication will be placed if there are any changes for tomorrow.
Northport/ East Northport School District – Due to the weather conditions, there will be an early release of students today, Tuesday, January 21st. All after-school and evening activities have been cancelled. There will be no PM kindergarten or after-school SCOPE program. Students will be released as follows:
Northport High School — Approximately 12 noon, Elementary Schools — Approximately 12:30 p.m., (with the exception of Norwood), Norwood Ave Elementary School — Approximately 12:45 p.m., East Northport Middle School — Approximately 1:00 p.m.
South Huntington School District – After school activities are cancelled with the exception of the YMCA after-school program. The YMCA program will be the only activity proceeding this afternoon but they will conclude at 5 p.m. We are going to reschedule tonight’s Silas concert for Thursday night at 7 p.m., followed by the previously scheduled Thursday night concert at 8:15 p.m. That will allow us to accommodate both concert audiences on Thursday night in the available space. We are going with a regular dismissal time at each of the primary, intermediate, and middle-level buildings. The only modification will be the cancellation of 8th period at the high school so we can start the busing process a bit early and ensure that our older students are home to assist with any childcare responsibilities.
