Dix Hills Fire Department Rescues Driver Trapped In Crash

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Northern State Parkway westbound, west of Deer Park Avenue near the Dix Hills Road overpass on Saturday night, Sept. 1, 2018 at about 11:30 p.m. Dix Hills firefighters used heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tools to remove the driver of a Toyota sedan that struck a tree and ended up teetering on top of a guardrail. Both driver’s side doors were removed after firefighters stabilized the vehicle. The woman was transported to Southside Hospital by Dix Hills Rescue Squad ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Under the direction of Second Assistant Chief Joe Williamson, about 25 fire/rescue personnel were dispatched with three heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances and a paramedic responder. New York State Police were also on the scene.
