WHO: Suffolk County Legislative Majority Leader Jon Cooper, Legislator DuWayne Gregory, Legislator Steven Stern, Legislator-elect William Spencer, Inspector Edward Brady (Commanding Officer of the Second Precinct) and other officials from the Suffolk County Police Department, representatives from SST, Inc. (ShotSpotter’s parent company), Town of Huntington officials, as well as community and religious leaders.
WHAT: A live gunfire demonstration of the new ShotSpotter Flex system now being used in Suffolk County. Developed by SST, Inc., ShotSpotter Flex is the world’s leading gunshot location, alert and analysis solution, and is used by law enforcement throughout the U.S. and internationally to help reduce and prevent gun violence and gun-related crimes; improve community engagement in crime fighting; and implement intelligent, data-driven policing strategies and operations.
WHERE: Corner of Columbia Street, Lowndes Avenue and Railroad Street in Huntington Station
WHEN: Thursday, December 22nd, 9:30 a.m.
WHY: The increased demand for law enforcement response requires the use of modern, efficient technologies to assist with strategically deploying police resources. ShotSpotter Flex will significantly reduce the time it takes the Suffolk County Police Department to detect, locate and respond to gunfire, which will contribute immensely to the safety of the citizens of Suffolk County.
