New Class of Police Recruits

On Monday, December 26, Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer and county officials will swear in the next class of recruits who will begin their six-month training before becoming Suffolk County police officers.

The class of 60 recruits is the last of the three classes included by County Executive Steve Levy in a 2010-2011 hiring plan for new officers.

“These new recruits have chosen a career in which they will protect and serve their communities,” said Levy. “They are joining one of the most effective police services units in the nation.”

In addition to the 60 Suffolk police recruits, approximately 25 recruits from various associated and outside agencies will also be sworn in.
