Violations Issued At Truck Checkpoint

On Tuesday February 28, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. to Wednesday February 29, 2012 at 3:00 a.m. 54 Summonses, 7 NYS Tax Violations, and 6 Tanker Trucks were placed out of service during tanker truck checkpoint.

The Suffolk County Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Section, in conjunction with NYS Department of Taxation, and NYS Environmental Conservation Police, issued 54 summonses and placed 6 tankers out of service at a fuel carrier checkpoint last night into this morning. 

The inter-agency enforcement initiative was conducted to ensure compliance with commercial motor vehicle and hazardous material safety regulations and with NYS tax laws, and to address environmental safety issues associated with fuel tanker trucks.  A total of 19 trucks were inspected during the 5 hour checkpoint. 

  • The Motor Carrier Safety Section issued 45 summonses and placed 6 cargo tankers out of service for safety hazards.
  • The New York State Department of Taxation cited 7 trucks for violations of the New York State tax laws.
  • The New York State Environmental Conservation Police issued 9 summonses for a variety of violations of the NYS Environmental Conservation Law.
