Two Landscaping Trucks Crash, Four Injured


The Huntington Manor Fire Department, Greenlawn Fire Department, Huntington Community First Aid Squad and Suffolk Police responded to a crash involving two landscaping trucks on Park Avenue near Stillwell Street in Huntington, Wednesday morning, April 4, shortly after 8 a.m. Four men suffered injuries including two that were trapped in one of the truck’s crushed cabs and extricated by Huntington Manor firefighters using heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tools to remove a door and lift the dashboard. Three patients were transported to Huntington Hospital by Huntington Community and Greenlawn Rescue Squad ambulances. The fourth patient was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center by Suffolk Police Medivac helicopter. About 50 firefighters and EMS personnel were on the scene with two heavy rescue trucks, an engine, and fire police from Huntington Manor FD, and four ambulances from Huntington Community and Greenlawn FD Rescue. Two additional Huntington Manor engines were dispatched to the Helicopter Landing Zone at Manor Field Park. The crash resulted in the closure of Park Avenue during the morning rush and for the police investigation.
