The Northport Symphony Orchestra (NSO) will host a free spring concert in celebration of its fifth season. The event will take place on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 8 p.m. at Northport High School located at 154 Laurel Hill Road in Northport.

The orchestra, under the direction of NSO Music Director Richard Hyman, will perform Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 2. This concert also will feature Carol Montparker, pianist and Steinway Artist, who will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, accompanied by the orchestra. Steinway & Sons will be providing a nine-foot grand piano for the performance.

“The support we have received since our founding five years ago has been wonderful, says Leila Zogby, NSO board president. “All of us in the Northport Symphony hope that the community’s many classical music fans will attend the concert and celebrate this rich experience they have helped to create and sustain.”

The concert is free, no tickets are required and donations to support the orchestra will be accepted. For more information, visit the NSO at www.northportorchestra.org.
