The Suffolk County Police will be offering a free single day 2 1/2 hour course to teach new drivers how to avoid dangerous driving situations.
This course will be taught by police E.V.O.C. (Emergency Vehicles Operations Course) Instructors and will consist of a short classroom lecture followed by a live demonstration on the EVOC track. Teens with a learner’s permit or driver’s license will have the opportunity to drive a police car on the EVOC couse.
Topics to be covered: vehicle dynamics, braking, cornering, acceleration and crash avoidance.
Eligiblilty: Teens between the ages of 16 – 19.
Goal: To educate teenagers to avoid dangerous driving conditions and to supplement training already learned from D.M.V. and defensive driving courses.
Dates: Monday through Friday July 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 2012 (choose one day)
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (choose one time slot)
