The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash involving a Limousine and a Range Rover on Half Hollow Road near Wildwood Drive in Dix Hills, Monday night, August 13, at about 11 p.m. The driver of the limo was trapped in the wreck and rescued by Dix Hills firefighters using heavy rescue extrication tools. He suffered chest trauma and neck and back injuries, and was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad. Three female occupants in the Range Rover also suffered neck and back injuries, and were taken to Huntington Hospital by Dix Hills and Melville Rescue ambulances. Under the command of Dix Hills Fire Chief Richard Granahan, 35 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with three heavy rescue trucks, three ambulances, and paramedic first responder units. An additional ambulance assisted from the Melville Fire Department.
