Suffolk County Police arrested a dentist who was under the influence of alcohol while he conducted a dental procedure on a patient yesterday afternoon.
First Precinct police officers responded to a complaint at a dental office, located at 152 N. Wellwood Ave., in Lindenhurst, about a dentist who appeared to be intoxicated at approximately 4:30 p.m. As a result of an investigation by First Precinct Crime Section officers, it was determined that Robert B. Garelick, 57, was under the influence of alcohol while performing dental work on a patient.
Garelick, of 26 Cottontail Road, Melville, who is licensed to practice dentistry by the State of New York, was charged with one count of Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 22.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
