Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a two-car crash that critically injured a Smithtown woman in East Northport this evening.
Lucy DiPietro, who was driving a 2004 Buick, exited the shopping center located at 3124 Jericho Turnpike when her vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2011 Mazda in the left lane at 6:07 p.m.
DiPietro, 71, of 62A St. Nicholas Ave., was airlifted to Stony University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mazda, Jessica Rinn, 23, of 165 Brooksite Drive, Smithtown, and DiPietro’s husband, Matthew, 76, were both transported to Huntington Hospital. Matthew DiPietro was listed in critical condition and Rinn was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
