Child Seriously Injured In Huntington Station Crash

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a child in Huntington Station today.

Ralph Williams was traveling on Academy Place, in a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer and attempted to make a left turn onto New York Avenue, when he struck three children in the crosswalk, who were crossing New York Avenue from the west side to the east side with their mother, Dorothy Blue, 35, of Medford. Blue was crossing the roadway with her four children ages 3-11 at 2:42 p.m.

Three of the children sustained injuries and were transported to Huntington Hospital via Huntington Community Rescue. A three-year-old girl suffered a laceration to a finger, and an 11-year-old- girl suffered a minor head injury. A six-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury and is scheduled to be transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park.

Williams, 49, of Westbury was not injured and stayed at the scene of the crash.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
