Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C-East Northport), as well as other members of the Suffolk County Assembly Republican Delegation, will partner with Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco to offer a life-saving program called “Yellow Dot.” Yellow Dot is a free program designed to help first responders provide life saving medical attention during that first “golden hour” after a car crash or other emergency. The program, organized by the New York State Sheriffs’ Association, is geared toward ensuring senior citizens receive timely medical assistance. An official Yellow Dot placed in the driver’s-side rear window of a vehicle will alert first responders that vital medical information is stored in the glove compartment.
“This dot could save your life. It’s as simple as that,” said Raia. “I want to thank Sheriff DeMarco and the New York State Sheriffs’ Association for offering this service to both the seniors in our community and folks all over the state. The importance of programs like this can’t be understated, and while I hope that most families will never have to use them, the Yellow Dots will go a long way in saving lives.”
If you would like to receive your own Yellow Dot, log on to nysheriffs.org/yellowdot or contact Assemblyman Andrew Raia’s office at raiaa@assembly.state.ny.us or call (631) 261-4151.
