Harborfields High School Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students
Harborfields Central School District is proud to announce that five students have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are Lauren DiFazio, Robert Hendler, Michael McDonagh, Fei Shang and William Ward.
Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2014 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“We are so very happy for these students and for their families who have undoubtedly supported them in their academic pursuits throughout the years,” said Principal Dr. Rory Manning. “The Harborfields faculty and staff, who work tirelessly on behalf of all students each and every day, are exceptionally proud of our Commended Students. To have such a large number of students score in the top 5 percent in the nation is something our entire community should be proud of.”
