Man Seriously Injured in Single-Car Crash Arrested for DWI

On Thursday, December 5, Shane McAdams was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang southbound on Melville Road when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, which crossed over the northbound lane and overturned onto the lawn of a residence at 12:17 a.m.   The accident occurred on Melville Road and Reynolds Street, South Huntington 

McAdams, 19, who had been trapped in the vehicle, was rescued with the assistance of members of the Huntington Manor Fire Department and police officers from the Emergency Service Section. He was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries that are not considered life threatening.

McAdams, of  Luther Place, South Huntington, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned at a later date. The investigation is continuing.
