Bus Driver Killed While Walking to Work

Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a bus driver as he was walking to work on Monday, January 27 at approximately 6:00 a.m.   Wayne Wickard, a driver for Baumann & Sons Bus Company, was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway in Ronkonkoma on his way to work when he was struck by a westbound 1998 Dodge Neon at the intersection of 5^th Avenue at approximately 6:05 a.m. 

Wickard, 69, of Commack, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Neon, Annette Agliato, 53, of Bohemia, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
