Area Scouts To Participate In Annual Food Collection

Scouts from the Town’s of Huntington and Smithtown will take part in the Suffolk County Council’s annual Good Turn, Scouting for Food, in the month of March. Armed with paper grocery bags donated by King Kullen Supermarkets, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers will participate in this annual effort to help replenish local food pantries.

The area’s Scouts need the community’s support to help feed the hungry people of Suffolk County. Nonperishable goods (cans and boxes) can be brought to John Glenn High School on Elwood Road, East Northport on Saturday, March 22 starting at 9:00 a.m. and no later than 11:30 a.m.  Scouts, Scouters, adult volunteers and members of the Huntington/ Smithtown/Commack/Hauppauge-area communities will assist in sorting and bagging the donated food that is collected.  All the food will be distributed to help replenish the shelves of more than a half a dozen local food pantries in the Matinecock District (Town’s of Huntington and Smithtown).

Many thanks go to our neighbors in the community who assist the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts by generously donating food to the “Scouting for Food 2014” program.
