The Charles and Helen Reichert Planetarium at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum has just premiered a dazzling new show, Musical Space Journey, showing every Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m.

Breathtaking images of space, 3-D animation, and an extraordinary spectrum of music — plus the Planetarium’s cutting-edge, full-dome video and surround-sound technology — combine to create a unique, immersive audience experience.

Musical Space Journey fills the 60-foot projection dome with astonishing and mesmerizing imagery that transports the audience on a visceral and emotional voyage that transcends space and time.

In creating this 45-minute show, the Planetarium’s technical-production staff sought to avoid overly popular and cliché themes and to achieve impact and timelessness. Audiences will be carried through the universe, immersed in a world of sound and light.

The featured music is a delightfully eclectic mix of electronic, urban contemporary, classic rock, and Latin jazz. Artists include Kool & the Gang, Black Sabbath, Marvin Gaye, Wendy Carlos, Cal Tjader, and Pink Floyd.

The Vanderbilt Museum is located at 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY. Directions and updated details on programs and events are available at www.vanderbiltmuseum.org. For information, call 631-854-5579.
