Town of Huntington Youth Bureau is eligible to receive funding from Suffolk County Youth Bureau in the amount of $172,735.00 for the period of January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. Some of the programs under the Youth bureau include REACH CYA, Sanctuary’s STILLS and Family Social Worker, Tri-Community and Youth Agency, Project EXCEL, Contract Management, and FACILE Project.
The Town of Huntington will enter into a contract with Cornell Cooperative Extension to operate a shellfish enhancement, restoration and management program, develop an educational platform to inform residents of ongoing Town projects and create an internship opportunity for local high school and college students providing education and training in aquaculture and shellfish management. The annual cost to the town is estimated to be $55,559.00 for 2014 and $56,375.00 for 2015.
Sewer lines within the Huntington Sewer District require annual maintenance for root intrusion with the injection of herbicide to eliminate and inhibit roots that have grown which can prevent the flow of sewerage through the sewer lines. Sealed bid were received on May 8, 2014 and Duke’s Root Control, Inc. located at 1020 Hiawatha Blvd. West, Syracuse, NY was the lowest responsible bidder.
The Town will enter into a 5 year contract from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2018 with the New York State Office for people with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) for funding the Summer Recreation Program for the Developmentally Disabled in the amount of $34,999.00 for the first year. There is a projected 5% increase in each subsequent year.
The Town of Huntington owns the property at 178 Waterview Street in Northport. There is a single family home on 13 acres. Timothy and Anne Fay have occupied the property for several years under a license agreement with the town. They are required to perform services such as visual inspection of the premises and maintain the property. The town is renewing the license agreement for the payment of utilities in the amount of $950 per month.
