Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Dix Hills on July 2, 2014.

William Ackerman, 48, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse northbound on East Deer Park Road when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking across the road in a westbound direction at 12:13 a.m.

Felicia Romero, 42, of Brentwood was transported by Dix Hills Rescue to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Ackerman, of Northport, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
