Bicyclist Critically Injured in Melville Motor Vehicle Crash – Update

Bruce Pye, the Farmingdale bicyclist that was struck in Melville yesterday, has succumbed to his injuries.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a bicyclist in Melville on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Bruce Pye was riding a bicycle heading eastbound on Old Country Road when he collided with a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was attempting to make a left onto Tuxedo Drive at approximately 3:05 p.m.

Pye, 33, of Farmingdale, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, in East Meadow, in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Salvatore Ceravolo, 48, of Melville, was uninjured, and stayed at the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
