Halesite Fire Department To Host Hands only CPR class

Dan McConnell - ChiefDear Neighbors,

The Halesite Fire Department will be hosting a Hands only CPR class that will be open to the public on Wednesday July 24th at 7:00 pm. The class will be held in the upstairs meeting room at the firehouse. We recognize the importance of CPR being initiated as soon as possible in the event of cardiac arrest, and while our first responders are only a phone call away, the sooner that CPR is started, the better.

Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as at home, at work or in a park). Attendees will be shown proper hand placement for compressions and will be taught to give the most effective chest compressions. There will also be an overview on the Heimlich maneuver for when someone is choking.

This class is recommended for anyone ages 12 and up. No prior training is required as this class is intended to teach the most basic life saving skills.

Pre-registration required-please call 631-427-1910. Class size is limited, and is first come first served; we will not take any walk ins. Children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to attend this event.

Please note: there will be no certification received for attending this class.

We hope to see you there!
Dan McConnell
Chief of Department
