The 2014 Whaling Museum Luau Committee is pleased to announce that this year’s annual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, July 19th at a private home overlooking Huntington Harbor.
The Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor’s Luau benefit will feature live entertainment, raffle prizes, and a Hawaiian feast. Two honorees will be recognized for their work in spearheading profoundly successful global and local initiatives. The first is Greg Kaufman, Executive Director of the Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui. Mr. Kaufman is a world leader in improving legal protection for whales and furthering maritime welfare throughout the Pacific. The museum’s second Honoree title goes to local residents and philanthropists Jim and Yvette Loughlin, whose commitment to local causes has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for vital community organizations on Long Island’s North Shore.
This year more than ever, the Whaling Museum is relying on the generosity of community members and local businesses to ensure successful museum programming for the 2014-2015 year. Funds raised at the Luau will enable the Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor to continue its work as an innovative center for history and science-based education on Long Island.
