Stop Making Sense subverted the typical concert film with long shots, lack of audience footage, and minimal lighting. The focus remained entirely on the Talking Heads, especially the iconicDavid Byrne, as they supported the release of Speaking In Tongues with a bare-bones stage setup and performances of “Psycho Killer”, “Heaven”, “Once in a Lifetime”, and “Girlfriend Is Better”. It was shot over three days at Hollywood, CA’s Pantages Theater in 1983. Pauline Kael of The New Yorker described it as “…close to perfection.”

Join us in the Sky Room after the film for a special after-party show featuring Say No! to Architecture and Jimmy Doyle & The Engineers
