Description: Watch the movie, join the discussion! 2013, UR, 86 mins. Directed by Steve Hoover. Winner of 2013 IDA Humanitas Award, 2013 Sundance Grand Jury Prize, 2013 Thessaloniki Film Festival Audience Award. Featured on PBS’ Independent Lens. This is the intimate portrait of Rocky Braat, who leaves his career and a troubled relationship with his parents to travel to India, hoping to find “authenticity.” A chance visit to a children’s AIDS hostel leads him to discover a purpose. He stays, and nurses children, many near death, through almost unbearable suffering. Relinquishing his former freedom in not being close to anyone, Braat comes to love and commit to these children and, finally, to marriage and home in India. Discussion moderator Fred Craden, is a retired educator, clinical social worker, and host of the Sunday Morning Bagel Schmooze at Huntington’s Cinema Arts Centre.
