Stephen Labate Forgoes Pursuit of Recount in New York’s Third Congressional District

Stephen Labate is withdrawing from the Republican race to unseat Congressman Steve Israel in New York’s Third Congressional District.

Stephen Labate commented saying, “Despite a razor thin margin of 11 votes, I have decided not to pursue a recount. A prolonged legal battle would be damaging to the Republican Party and would only benefit Congressman Steve Israel. The goal now is to defeat Congressman Israel in November and I wish my opponent luck in achieving this goal.”

Labate continued, “I am so incredibly proud of my team and their herculean efforts. A general is nothing without his soldiers and I can say unequivocally that our performance is a testament to their hard work. I feel privileged to know them all and it is my hope we can work together again very soon.”
