On Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at approximately 9:35 p.m. a group of people were gathered outside of 84 East 9th Street, Huntington Station. A man fired a number of shots at the group.
Daniel Carbajal, 25, of Huntington Station, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Anthony Napolitano, 21, of Huntington Station, was taken via Huntington Community Ambulance to Huntington Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his leg. No one else was injured in the shooting.
The suspect, who was described as a dark-skinned male, fired two more shots at the house and then fled on foot southbound on Varney Avenue.
Second Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

We were sitting outside in the backyard, we heard the shots and said is that gun fire or fireworks and my dog started barking like crazy, normally if it’s fireworks, she hides. This is just sickening.
