Pingback: Huntington Superintendent Polansky Voices Opposition To Hotel Tax Abatement | The Huntingtonian
How many times can school districts afford to lose property tax revenue? This town seems very willing to allow developers to come in and get huge tax breaks off the backs of our children. That, on top of the town itself buying multiple tracts of land and taking them off the tax rolls completely.
All of this is hurting the rightful tax revenue of every school district within this town. “One-shot” payments by developers to districts might look like a nice gesture but do not cover the real lost revenue over years of actual property tax payments, which districts can count on every year.
Will the “boutique” hotel by the train station be getting a similar tax break? How about the office building we just heard might be built next to the hotel?
Where will it end?
