Officers Help Revive Infant In Huntington Station

Suffolk Police News ReleaseTwo Suffolk County police officers helped revive an infant who was having difficulty breathing in Huntington Station today.

Second Precinct Patrol Officer Michael Lavrovsky and Police Officer Joseph Reilly were dispatched to a call of an infant in respiratory distress on 1st Ave., at approximately 4:10 p.m. The officers arrived within two minutes and upon entering the residence they observed a five-month-old infant boy turning blue and having difficulty breathing. Officer Lavrovsky began administering first aid by delivering back blows to clear the airway, while Officer Reilly assisted.

Huntington Community First Aid Squad arrived as the officers prepared the victim for transport. Officer Lavrovsky accompanied the victim in the ambulance and continued to ensure the airway was clear and administered oxygen. Officer Reilly coordinated other units to shutdown major intersections along New York Avenue en route to Huntington Hospital. The victim was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was in stable condition.
