Centerport Fire Department Responds to Chimney Fire

Members of the Centerport Fire Department were dispatched to a reported chimney fire in a home on Bittner Lane, Saturday, April 22, at 8:05 p.m. About 35 firefighters and rescue personnel responded with two engines, a ladder truck, ambulance and fire police. Firefighters had the fire under control within an hour, under the direction of Captain Kyle McLaughlin and Lieutenant Andrew Stevenson.  One resident was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation by the Centerport Rescue Squad. The fire was contained to the chimney with minor smoke and water damage to the home.
