The Dix Hills Fire Department was dispatched to a crash involving an SUV that crashed into a tree and overturned on Melrose Road on Saturday, August 26, 2017 shortly after 5 p.m. The driver of the SUV was able to self-exit the vehicle and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad with non-life threatening injuries. Firefighters applied an absorbent to the road for a fuel spill. An ambulance, heavy rescue truck and paramedic unit were on the scene and under the direction of Chief Tom Napolitano and Second Assistant Chief Joe Williamson. Suffolk Police second precinct and Emergency Service unit were also on the scene.
