Vaudeville permeated the fabric of American life, from the 1870s until the 1930s, in thousands of towns and cities across both the United States and Canada, but the apex of Vaudeville was to play The Palace in New York City. Vaudeville was “variety,” and included everything from the sublime to the ridiculous – animal acts, singers, magicians, “freak” acts and headliners like George Burns and Gracie Allen, Eddie Cantor, Mae West, W.C. Fields, and Pearl Bailey. Enjoy samples of song and comedy, the mainstays of Vaudeville. A “hit” song could define the career of a performer, a composer, or a lyricist. A great comic routine could play for years on the circuit. To register, call 631-427-5165.
