Sandi Brewster-Walker, independent historian, genealogist, and freelance writer, presents a history of 19th century whaling captains and their crew on Long Island, along with an exhibit of artifacts from her collection. She highlights the genealogies and experiences of local men of color who hunted the whale during the peak years of 1840-1860, and discusses whaling vessels, ship wrecks, desertions and more.
