COUNCILMAN COOK SPONSORS RESOLUTION TO CREATE A CARBON FOOTPRINT PROGRESSIVE IMPACT FEE
Councilman Eugene Cook is sponsoring a resolution to schedule a public hearing to create a Progressive Impact Fee, to allow the Town to reduce the carbon footprint on the environment. The basis of this fund will be a fee for industrial consumption of fossil fuels that will be required of certain large scale fossil fuel users and used to advance the quality of life, public health and safety of the members of our community. This approach will foster innovation, mitigation and proactive improvements in funded areas including direct initiatives, grants, studies, academic programs and capital projects. Improvement areas will be directly concentrated on areas of sanitation, marine welfare, abatement of chemical conditions including acid rainwater, drinking water treatments, preservation of waterfront and innovation of energy conservation and transformation. Through
these efforts we will have the resources necessary to improve the quality of life for our citizens and move in a positive direction in environmental stewardship.
Councilman Cook will be sponsoring this resolution to schedule a public hearing at the Huntington Town Board meeting, May 1, 2018, beginning at 2PM at 100 Main Street, Huntington, so that the residents of Huntington can be heard on this matter.
