Huntington Fire Chiefs Present Scholarships

 The Town of Huntington Fire Chiefs Council recently presented their annual Scholarship Awards to students affiliated with the town volunteer fire and rescue services. Council President Dan McConnell presented the scholarships to Firefighter Robert Lahey of Northport, Firefighter Jillian McGuire of Centerport, Katherine Grant of East Northport, Sarah Williamson of Dix Hills, Nicole Schirripa of Huntington, David Weber of Northport, and Carly Malico of Centerport. 
    Robert Lahey is attending Suffolk Community College for Criminal Justice. Jillian, the daughter of Centerport FD Ex-Captain Ed McGuire, is attending SUNY Binghampton for Nursing. Katherine, the daughter of East Northport FD members Bruce and Donna Grant, is attending Slippery Rock University for Special Education and Early Childhood. Sarah, the daughter of Dix Hills FD Assistant Chief Joe Williamson, is attending SUNY Cortland for Childhood Education. Nicole, the daughter of Tom Schirripa of Huntington Community First Aid Squad, is attending Tulane University for Accounting. David, a former Northport FD Junior, is the son of Ex-Captain David Weber and is attending Bentley University for Accounting. Carly, a Centerport Junior, is the daughter of firefighter Jim Malico and attending Molloy College for Nursing.
   The seven $500 scholarships are awarded annually in the memory of Dix Hills Chief Terry Farrell and Huntington Manor Chief Peter Nelson, both FDNY Rescue Company 4 firefighters who were killed in the line of duty on 9/11; Huntington Manor Fire Police Captain and Chaplain Richard Holst and Dix Hills Ex-Captain Walter Hessling who both died in the line of duty in 2009; Huntington Manor Ex-Chief and Commissioner Joe Lynch, Town of Huntington Supervisor’s assistant Billie Pastore, and Eaton’s Neck Assistant Chief Kevin Brandon.
