Two People Killed In Motor Vehicle Crash In Commack

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed two people in Commack early in the morning on Wednesday, September 12th, 2018.

A man was driving a 2013 Audi westbound on Jericho Turnpike just past the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a gas pump at Sunoco gas station, located at 2211 Jericho Turnpike at approximately 2:10 a.m. The vehicle caught fire. Both the driver and the male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.

UPDATE: The driver of the 2013 Audi that crashed into a gas pump in Commack has been identified as Hector Sanchez Jr, 27, of Brentwood. The passenger has been identified as Shawn Jenkins Jr., 24, of Bay Shore. The investigation is continuing.
