PRESS CONFERENCE AT 11 AM TOWN HALL
HUNTINGTON, LONG ISLAND – At the December 4, 2018 town board meeting, a resolution which will be sponsored by Councilman Eugene Cook, to authorize the Town Attorney to research the potential eminent domain procedure of the National Grid’s Northport Power Plant will be voted on.
“We are looking into whether exploring this option would be beneficial to the taxpayers of the Town of Huntington,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci.
Councilman Eugene Cook stated, “I believe we agree that we need to insure the future of our Town and its residents and I feel this is the first step of leaving no stone unturned regarding our future. “
“I fully support exploring every possible option to resolve this decade-old problem, including condemning the property if it’s in the best interest of the taxpayers”, said Councilman Edmund Smyth.
