Melville Fire Department Battles Condo Fire In The Greens
The Melville Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at The Greens on Adriatic Drive, Thursday, December 27, at 4:10 pm. First arriving units found a heavy fire condition on the first and second floors involving two condos in the 16 unit building. Crews began an aggressive attack on the blaze and were assisted by the Dix Hills, Huntington Manor, Plainview, East Farmingdale, Farmingdale and Wyandanch fire departments. About 75 firefighters using ten trucks had the fire under control within 40 minutes, under the command of Chief Chris Nolan and First Assistant Chief David Kaplan. Four Melville Rescue Squad ambulances and EMT’S provided emergency medical support, but luckily there were no injuries and all residents were safely out on arrival. The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire. Two condo units sustained heavy fire damage with water and smoke damage to at least two more.
