Crane Collapses Into Melville Building
The Melville Fire Department responded for a crane collapse into an office building on Broad Hollow Road near Arlington Street, on Thursday, January 10, at about 9am. The accident occurred when a strut broke on the truck and lifted the crane off the ground and into the building.
There were no injuries reported and the Town of Huntington Building Department was on the scene to assess the damage. About 20 Melville firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched with an engine, heavy rescue, ladder truck, ambulance and Fire Police, under the direction of Chiefs Chris Nolan, David Kaplan and Bill Schmitt.
