Thousands Of Students To Visit SCPD Headquarters To Celebrate Police Week
Event will feature daily demonstrations of Canine, Aviation, Emergency Service sections
The Suffolk County Police Department will open its doors to give students of all ages an up-close look at police operations during Police Week beginning May 6 at Police Headquarters in Yaphank.
More than 400 students from 11 high schools will have the opportunity to view the workings of a mock crime scene, wear alcohol impairment simulation goggles and receive Narcan and CPR instruction. Students will also see mock car stops to learn what they should do when stopped by the police.
Crime Scene, Emergency Service Section and Marine Bureau will have displays for students to tour. Canine Section, Aviation Section and instructors from Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) will present demonstrations during the day. Various police vehicles, equipment and antique police cars will be on display.
Police Week will continue for approximately 3,500 students from more than 50 elementary and middle school classes between May 7 and May 9.

WHEN: Monday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (high school students only)
Tuesday, May 7 through Thursday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

on Monday at 10:30 a.m. and at 11:30 a.m. the remainder of the week***
