Letter from the Chief: Open House Friday 10/4/19
Did you know?
In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of the time you have, giving everyone enough time to get out.
Come to the firehouse this Friday October 4, 2019, from 6:00-8:00pm, for our annual Fire Prevention Open House to learn about the importance of having an escape plan for your family in case of an emergency. Home escape planning and practice ensure that everyone knows what to do in a fire and is prepared to escape quickly and safely.
We have arranged for numerous live demonstrations including fire evacuation instructions using the Smoke House trailer, effective use of extinguishers with live fire, instructions on how to avoid kitchen fires, Blood Pressure screenings and other medical demonstrations, plus tours of the firehouse, tours of our apparatus and more.
Just as in years past, this year’s open house will be a great time for residents of the community and their children to learn more about fire prevention and to meet some of the men and women who volunteer as firefighters or EMT’s. We are always looking for a few good neighbors to join our ranks! There will be free refreshments, contests and prizes for kids and adults.
