WHEN: Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 7:00 PM

WHAT: The 81st anniversary of Kristallnacht will be commemorated at The Chai Center with a visit and discussion with Frima Geisel Laub, a Jewish child in Poland who survived for months on her own after her mother left her with a family who could not care for her. She tells her story of survival during the Holocaust in her book, Between the Shadows: A Memoir of a Wartime Childhood.

Kristallnacht is also known as the “Night of Broken Glass,” when on November 9-10, 1938, Nazis in Germany torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses and killed close to 100 Jews. Following that night conditions for German Jews grew increasingly worse and eventually Hitler and the Nazis carried out the systematic murder of millions of European Jews in what came to be known as the Holocaust.
