Student Athletes Celebrate Victory at Northport

Congratulations to Northport High School’s Boys’ Cross-Country team who were crowned Division II Champions on Oct. 29, 2019 at the Suffolk County Championships. 

Additionally, on Oct. 30, 2019 – the second day of the Suffolk County Individual Golf Championships at Rock Hill Country Club – senior James Alden scored 2-over par, 37 on the front nine and an even -36 on the back, to be crowned Individual Suffolk County Champion.  This earned him a spot on the New York State Tournament Team competing this spring. Congratulations to James and our Head Coach Brian Sundberg.

 The high school’s swimming and diving team also won the overall League I Championship, for the third consecutive year led by Coach Drew Modrov. The team placed first in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay to go 3 for 3 on relay wins. They have qualified for the State Championships in all three.

 Senior Chloe Stepanek won the 200 Free with a time of 1:46.82, breaking Northport High School, Suffolk County and the New York State record. Chloe also won the 100 Free with a time of 49.81. Additionally, Chloe led off our 200 Free Relay with a 23.31 in the 50 Free, which broke her personal, Northport High School and Suffolk County record in that event.  These results qualify her for Automatic All-American status. 

Additionally, Northport Middle School eighth grader Dorothy Amato won the League title in the 500 Freestyle and eighth grader Makenna O’Brien qualified for the State Championships in the 100 Butterfly with her third-place time of 59.90.

Northport High School’s Cross-Country team were crowned Division II Champions at the Suffolk County Championships on Oct. 29.

Northport High school golfer, James, Aiden earned a spot on the New York State Tournament team at the Suffolk County Individual Golf Championships on Oct. 30.

The high school’s swimming and diving team also won the overall League I Championship for the third consecutive year.
