Commack News: Future Business Leaders Successful at Spring Competition

 Thirty members of Commack High School’s Future Business Leaders Club competed in the FBLA Spring District Competition at Hofstra University. More than half won awards for their presentations.

                      “We are proud of each competing member’s participation and accomplishments at FBLA’s State District Competition,” said club co-advisor, Erin Maxcaro.  “It is an excellent opportunity for all members to prepare and apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment to broaden job skills and knowledge for their future.”

                       Members prepare by studying from previous exams and course notes and practice performance events with advisers during homeroom, before school, and after school. “These students also have taken or are currently enrolled in a variety of courses that can prepare them for FBLA competitions such as College Computer Applications, Business Law, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Career and Financial Management, Wall Street, IB Business Management, Computer Science, Financial Math and Public Speaking,” said Sandra Braun, the club’s other co-advisor. “This real-world activity allows them to apply the business concepts they learned in class in a positive way.”
