Centerport Fire Department Extinguishes Bedroom Fire

Quick action by the Centerport Fire Department contained a bedroom fire at a home on Westbrook Court, Friday afternoon, January 31, 2020. Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 3:46 p.m., and crews made a quick push on the fire with an aggressive interior attack to extinguish the blaze. Centerport firefighters responded with a ladder truck, two engines, heavy rescue truck, ambulance and paramedic unit. The Northport, Halesite and Greenlawn fire departments assisted at the scene with additional apparatus, with Huntington and East Northport crews providing standby coverage at Centerport fire headquarters. About 60 firefighters were on the scene under the command of First Assistant Chief Andy Heglund, and interior operations handled by Second Assistant Chief Kyle McLaughlin. There were no injuries reported and the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
